Oscar 2008: No Country for Old Men, marele câştigător

No Country for Old Men (Nu există ţară pentru bătrâni), al fraţilor Joel şi Ethan Coen, a fost recompensat cu premiul Oscar pentru cel mai bun film, la cea de-a 80-a ediţie a premiilor Academiei Americane de Film, decernate duminică, la Kodak Theatre din Los Angeles. Filmul a mai primit trei premii duminică seară: pentru Cel mai bun actor în rol secundar, Cel mai bun regizor şi Cel mai bun scenariu adaptat. Thrillerul este realizat după un roman al celebrului scriitor american, distins cu premiul Pulitzer, Cormac McCarthy. Acţiunea se petrece în anii 80, când traficanţii de droguri sunt la putere, iar oraşele mici au devenit poligoane de tragere în aer liber.

Inseparabilii Joel şi Ethan Coen, regizorii, scenariştii şi producătorii filmului, au fost distinşi pe parcursul carierei lor cu numeroase premii: în 2001, Joel a primit premiul pentru cel mai bun regizor pentru "Confesiunea unui anonim", iar în 1991, "Barton Fink", a fost distins cu Palme d'Or pentru cea mai bună regie, la Cannes. În 1996, Joel Coen a primit premiul criticilor de film din New York pentru regie, un premiu BAFTA pentru regia filmului "Fargo" şi premiul Oscar pentru cel mai bun scenariu original, scris în colaborare cu fratele său Ethan.

SEARA OSCARURILOR: VEDETE BINE ŞI PROST ÎMBRĂCATE

Primul premiu al galei a fost câştigat de filmul "Elizabeth: The Golden Age", la categoria Cele mai bune costume. Premiul Oscar a fost primit de Alexandra Byrne pentru crearea costumelor acestui film despre viaţa reginei Elisabeta I a Angliei. Cel mai bun lung metraj animat este Ratatouille, povestea şoricelului prietenos care devine bucătar şef într-un restaurant parizian. La categoria cele mai bune efecte speciale, câştigător este The Golden Compass, o aventură fanstastică, plasată într-o lume alternativă, unde fiecare om este însoţit de un animal. Cel mai bun actor într-un rol secundar este Javier Bardem, pentru rolul din No Country for Old Men. El devine astfel primul actor spaniol care deţine un Oscar.

Tilda Swinton primeşte Oscarul pentru cea mai bună actriţă într-un rol secundar, pentru rolul din Michael Clayton. Cea mai bună actriţă a fost desemnată Marion Cotillard, pentru La Vie en Rose. Dintre cei doi mari favoriţi pentru titlul de cel mai bun actor - George Clooney şi Daniel Day Lewis -, membrii Academiei l-au ales pe cel din urmă, pentru rolul din There Will Be Blood.
