Joanne, mama unui copil de 11 ani și a unuia de 9, intrase în depresie din cauza fizicului său. Femeia a decis că este momentul pentru o schimbare radicală în viața ei.  A pornit de la 62 de kilograme și a ajuns la 56 cu ajutorul postului intermitent, o dietă care îți permite să iei toate mesele zilei într-o fereastră de numai 8 ore.

Practic, nici nu e vorba despre o dietă, ci de un stil de viață care dă rezultate garantat, spune Joanne. Ea mănâncă în intervalul orar 12 – 20, însă la fel de bine orele ar putea fi altele. Contează doar ca principiul – fereastra de 8 ore – să fie respectat.

Mămica nu ține dietă, nu-și numără caloriile, dar încearcă să mănânce cât se poate de ”curat”.

”Cred că mâncarea e medicament”. Motivul pentru care funcționează atât de bine pentru mine e acela că mă face să nu mă mai gândesc la mâncare 24/7, elimină nevoia de dulce, care e slăbiciunea mea, și îmi forțează organismul să folosească grăsimea, pentru energie. Și are multe alte beneficii în afară de scăderea în greutate”, povestește Joanne care a devenit un model p.

 

There is very little difference in scale weight between these pics but there is a visible difference due to recomposition (gaining muscle and losing fat). - I was doing zero exercise in the first pic but slimming down using quick fixes that never lasted. I was obsessed with the scales and at 163cm tall, had decided that 60kg was going to be my ‘max’ and I would never let myself get back over it. I would slim down before every holiday and aim for 57-58kg, giving myself a 2-3kg buffer zone so I could ‘enjoy’ my holiday. ?? - The result of eating well and weight training consistently is that I no longer need to keep starting a new quick fix. I have less fat and more muscle, I retain much less water, have less cellulite, everything is tighter and I much prefer my shape. My metabolism is much more efficient and I know from body composition scans that my bone mineral density has improved not to mention my strength, stamina and general state of mind. ? - I really was skinny fat on the left. While I had nowhere to hide in a bikini, I looked fine in clothes. You can definitely slim down with diet alone but you’d be CRAZY not to incorporate weight training.

Ok, so we all know by now that it’s the diet that needs to be the focus for fat loss, not exercise. It’s also the diet that is the hard part. Even if we do commit to clean eating, we can often eat too much of a good thing and still see no results. A lot of you already know that I’m a big fan of intermittent fasting (IF) and have been doing it for years. It’s not a diet, it’s a tool and I just wanted to talk about WHY it works for me as I do really consider it the game changer in my fitness journey. Nothing else has helped me get the weight off and effortlessly keep it off. I was already working out regularly in the first pic but wasn’t seeing much progress despite trying my hardest to eat clean. I now basically eat all my meals between 12-8pm whenever I can, which has become easy and I don’t get hungry prior to this. What the fasting has done for me is eliminate all the cravings that used to derail me. I would pig out on chocolate, ice-cream and large bags of potato chips. I no longer crave any of them. Eating an early breakfast also opens up my appetite so even if I am eating clean, I end up eating a LOT more over the course of the day. I also feel more focused when fasting and my energy levels are higher - like anything new though, it does take an adjustment period but it really does become easy, to the point where I really can’t even stomach the thought of eating first thing in the morning. ?
