Two people died and seven were injured in an accident involving three vehicles, one of which was included in the Dakar Rally, competition’s organizers announced.
The accident took place Wednesday evening at the end of the fifth stage between Peruvian city of Arequipa and the Chilean city of Arica, Reuters reports.
A support rally vehicle collided with a cab and the driver of the third car, also a cab could not brake in time and stopped in the cars clashed before him.
The driver and the passenger in the first cab were killed instantly, while people in the rally car, suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.
The four men in the second cab, were also taken to hospital.
Peruvian authorities have launched an investigation to determine the fault, and several security cars and paramedics helped local rescue services
