
"If in 2006, we set off from a low threat level, in 2012 we have reached a situation where this risk , this threat has increased constantly up to becoming an explicit threat due to statements made by Middle East radicals but also on account of a set of political , strategic and military factors that I will present briefly.

Our ongoing participation, with troops in Afghanistan, turns us into a significant target for the forces hostile to such a participation. George Maior stood Tuesday before the parliament to present the activity reports of the Intelligence Service over the past six years. Also Tuesday, the Parliament endorsed the activity report of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) 2012.
SRI director boasted that the service he runs is the most modern in Europe and that it enjoys a public confidence of 50% of the population. He got the Parliament’s endorsement in the plenary session for the service’s activity reports since 2007 after speaking about the increase of terrorist threats.
