According to European statistics, the purchasing power of Romanians is twice lower than the European average.
Romania is at the forefront in terms of unemployed, which demonstrates that wages reduction and layoffs have had a devastating effect on the country. The EC report shows that a family of two has no member employed and 25% of the families have only one member employed.
Additionally, more than 30% of the Romanians are half-illiterate.
The report also shows that less than half of the Romanians homes have running water and sewage.
