„No. No, to give you an answer and end the subject for good”, Udrea stated, when asked whether she would run for the party president position.
„Therefore, it is not about my candidacy. But, I too believe that if we want to stop this simmering, which is natural – USL has won the elections by a very high score and a great majority and they are organizing a congress, each party is holding a convention or a congress, whichever they have, PNL and PSD – in PDL’s case after the defeat we have gone through there’s all the more this desire of the members, of the party’s members – of course, not the leadership’s necessarily – to hold a Convention and have the possibility to opt for a team, which, definitely could even be that of Mr. Blaga’s, nobody is saying that a new team will be chosen ”Udrea stated on a TV station, according to Mediafax.
Former Ministry of Tourism emphasized that it was not the time for internal fights within the PDL, but there are high expectations for the Convention which would be organized.
Following the failure in the December 9, 2012, parliamentary elections, the only resignations were those of Cristian Preda, from the prime vicepresident position within the PDL and that of Sever Voinescu from the office of party vicepresident. Cezar Preda who had announced he was quitting the prime viceresident position reconsidered.
Tuesday, Cezar Preda, PDL prime vicepresident accused Sever Voinescu of „treason” and claimed that the only thing he could ask for is to be kicked out, while Voinescu replied: „Who is this Cezar Preda? To notice him I should ensure he exists first. Does he exist?”.
Cristian Preda, Theodor Paleologu and Teodor Baconschi rallied around Voinescu, right away.
