Former intelligence officer Ion Maticiuc and Romanian businessman Florin Dima, who now lives in Switzerland, are the key people behind the offshore site set up by Mossack Fonseca who resorted to the legal counselling of Biris Goran law firm.
The National Journal writes that the two have close ties with the Securitate, but also with Traian Basescu and his family.
They are both involved in a network whose tentacles stretch into the companies of former security officers who worked in the '80s with the dreaded terrorist Carlos the Jackal.
