Ponta: The Boc Government has been the most incompetent government Romania has ever had
PSD President, prime minister, Victor Ponta stated Monday that President Traian Basescu was busy "rewriting history", but the Boc Government remained "the most incompetent and corrupt", adding that USL’s efforts should be focused on governance.

‘I say, let’s deal with governing, rewriting history is Mr. Basescu’s job. I continue to believe that the Boc Government has been the most incompetent and corrupt government that Romania has ever had and we have been struggling for a year to fix what they have damaged and to hand in their thieves to the prosecution. I state this to be very clear concerning whose praising who, that’s the situation, we came into power after some incompetents and thieves. It is not for the first time, but I do believe we stand a good chance to rebuilding Romania’, Ponta stated.
President Traian Băsescu stated Friday referring to the economic situation of Romania that that "the ship is at berth in a safe port ", thanking the Boc, Ungureanu and Ponta Governments.

"I lived with all three governments and I am trying to give each one’s what’s his. The Boc government put the national interest above the interest of the party and basically sacrificed votes to restore the macroeconomic equilibrium of the country, to provide the premises for Romania to resume development and to give Romanians their dignity back. A country that is borrowing money from the Fund to pay salaries and pensions is not a country with the best reputation, " Basescu said..
The head of state added that he thanked Government Ungureanu because it ‘did not affect the recovery route and rehabilitation of imbalances, saying the same was valid for the Ponta Government’.

‘I feared – and I can tell you that this was the time that gave me the confidence that one can cohabit with the Ponta Government – that this government could have implemented populist measures, excessive, to ruin again the balance, in the winter elections perspective. They haven’t and that’s why I consider that they have contributed to reaching the outcomes of today ’, Basescu stated.

He also stated that Romania has reached the situation whereby it does not have to struggle for survival.

"We have to resume the struggle for sustainable economic growth by finding a balance between development based on investment and development stimulated by consumerism. The theory that excessive stimulation of consumption was a solution to boost economic growth proved to be false. It is obvious that we have to reach the optimum level through investment development and optimum consumption that would not take us back in the situation of 2008, "Basescu said.
