Antonescu, on the Kishinev government fall: It is not a good omen. The Alliance for Europe should have resisted
Senate president  Crin Antonescu,  stated  that the political situation in the Republic of Moldova worried him  after the Government’s dismissal subsequent to a  censure motion, adding that it was not a good omen, since the Alliance supporting the pro-European orientation of the country should have resisted.

“In my  opinion this is not a good omen, unfortunately the fact that this Alliance for Europe, which should have  had as its common denominator  the pro-European policy of the Republic of Moldova, should have resisted, should have overcome the inconvenient”, Antonescu stated quoted by Mediafax.

He emphasized he was aware of the difficulty in  maintaining a political alliance in  our neighboring country, but the major interest for the country would have been that the AIE  be maintained.

“We are all doing politics, we all have been or are part of alliances, we are all aware of how difficult it is to maintain an alliance, we can understand all that, I believe that the major interest for the Republic of Moldova would have been that this alliance, as a political force established through the citizens votes and which, I repeat, targeted  this pro-European policy should have resisted”, the Senate president said.

He pointed  out that that the Republic of Moldova needed “coherent political forces, stable”, able to  fully commit to the fundamental purpose of getting closer to the EU.

“I believe that if they needed to resort to early elections, or whether  another formula could be found, early elections cannot solve  much if there aren’t any coherent political forces, stable, focused on a fundamental purpose to which to subordinate everything. But, in the end, it is the politics  of another state and I cannot allow myself to say anything more than that ”, Antonescu concluded.

The Government of Moldova, led by Prime Minister Vlad Filat was dismissed after a motion of censure voted by 54 MPs. Within three days, Prime Minister Vlad Filat  and his cabinet must resign.
