Iurie Darie was born on March 14, 1929, in Vadul Rosu, Soroca (at present in the Republic of Moldova).
Physically attractive, with a great gift for drawing, and also a real stage talent, he was admitted by two high education schools: the Arts Institute and the one of Cinematography, choosing the last. He graduated in 1952.
His popularity was due to interpretation of unforgettable characters, with much ease, vivacity and youthful verve, which despite the passing years remained the same. An important moment of his career was the period spent at the 'Theatre of Comedy', when Radu Beligan had the flair to gather a handful of actors who were going to make that theater famous later. He starred in reference theater productions: 'Troilus and Cressida', 'Shadow' and many more. After the Revolution, he starred in the 'Hat', a Comedy Theatre production, directed by Horatiu Malaele (1998), 'Four on a couch and a valet' by Marc Camoletti, directed by Radu Nichifor (2000).
Iurie Darie also held leading roles in films such as: 'Our boys' (1959),' Vacation at Sea '(1962),' Love at zero degrees' (1964), 'BD comes into action' (1970),' When I condemned all to death ' (1971),' Jderi Brothers ' (1974), ' Ring '(1983),' A day in Bucharest ' (1986), ' Every day I miss you '(1987),' Sun Smile ' (1987),' Mirror '(1993),' Point Zero ' (1995).
On June 1, 2012, as a sign of respect and appreciation for all his work, actor Iurie Darius received a star on the Alley of celebrities - the Walk of Fame, in the Time Market, the Capital's historical center and the 'Bucharest Plaque ' handed over by Mayor Sorin Oprescu.
Iurie Darie was married to an actress, Consuela Rosu. Their son, Alexandru (Ducu) Darie, followed in their footsteps, now a successful theater director. After the death of Consuela, Iurie Darie remarried actress Anca Pandrea.
