Usually, tourists stop for a few hours in Bucharest on their way to more popular destinations such as Transylvania, Bulgaria or Istanbul. The general perception (but outdated) is that of a ruined city where there are not many places to visit. However, BBC News journalists say, the new old center of Bucharest is worth visiting.
British journalists ad that the restoration works of the old town took almost a decade, during which the bulldozers and cranes were mere objects of decoration. But those days seem to have remained a mere memory while the works have advanced, it seems to have turned into a success that was difficult to predict.
The oldest structures in the Old Town date from the Fifteenth Century, British journalists say, describing the history of this area.
BBC journalists have also reviewed the main tourists sights such as the Princely Palace, the Stavropoleos Church and the National History Museum. Journalists did not forget to mention some of the major restaurants in the area, where one can taste traditional Romanian dishes.
