Like many other companies, energy giant Enel has accumulated significant debt before the economic crisis and now wants to leave some markets to reduce their debts. By selling the business in Romania and Slovakia, they hope to get 4.4 billion euros, money that will go to creditors.
In our country, the Italians want to sell the majority stakes they own in distribution companies from Muntenia, Banat and Dobrogea and 100% of Enel Romania SRL shares. We are talking about companies that manage a network of 91,000 kilometers that distributes about 14 Tera Watts per hours per year to 2.6 million customers.
In 2013 the company had revenues of EUR 1.1 billion and generated an operating profit of 289 million euros. Enel acquired in 2005-2006 in Romania, three distribution and power supply companies.
The sale of these assets will not affect any energy consumers in Romania because the fees that these companies charge are valid until 2018, according to the National Regulatory Authority for Energy.
