Five medals for Romania at the International Olympiad of Astronomy and Astrophysics
Romanian students won five medals - two gold, two silver and one bronze - at the International Olympiad of Astronomy and Astrophysics, which is the best result in the history of Romania's participation in this  competition, the Ministry of Education informs, quoted by Mediafax.

The gold medals were obtained by   Iustina Crăciun and Denis Turcu, students in XIth grade at the International Computer High School of Bucharest. Denis Turcu was ranked first in the Olympics hierarchy and Iustina Crăciun was awarded the prize  for the best problem solving in the competition tests, according to the source quoted.

 

The silver medals were awarded to students Andrei Alexandru Cuceu (grade XI, International Computer High School of Bucharest) and Paul Andrei  Draghiş (grade  Xth National College "Vasile Lucaciu" in Baia Mare), while the bronze medal was awarded to  Catalina Miriţescu (grade  XI, International Computer High School of Bucharest).
    
International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics, at its  seventh edition, was held in the city of Volos in Greece from July 27 to August 5.

The competition featured more than 100 competitors from 20 countries.

Next year's edition of the Olympics will be hosted by Romania, in Suceava.
