Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, was invited on the Tuesday edition of the Daily Summary show, announced that he would grant his unconditional support to Victor Ponta in the presidential race. On the other hand, Tăriceanu said that Iohannis had nothing in common with liberalism, he did not have a political identity.

The most important statements by Călin Popescu Tăriceanu:

Both I and Mr. Victor Ponta, we as parliamentarians, we have all been chosen and received a vote of confidence from those who voted USL in 2012. That vote was not only for a better life, but a mandate to end the Basescu regime.

At the moment, my obligation is to give Victor Ponta unconditional support, to make sure that we end this unfortunate period of the Basescu regime.

Together with Victor Ponta, we are considering the things we need to do so that Romania should get out of this period of distress, to conclude this chapter of a deeply divided Romania and to return to a normal Romania.

The Liberal electorate is in a complicated situation, it is a frustration many are experiencing.

- Iohannis has got nothing in common with Liberalism , he does not have a political identity, he is seeking to profit from circumstances and he is not a man of conviction.

Over his last months in office, we have the proof of the way Basescu understands politics. A way totally inappropriate and totally damaging for Romania.

We, together, and I in particular must make all efforts so that a character like Iohannis should never make it to Controceni.

Călin Popescu Tăriceanu: Băsescu is dividing a whole country

I have a working experience with Mr. Ponta. It is important to trust we observe our commitments and to trust each other.

Our common experiences will help us to avoid the mistakes that we saw in the last 10 years.

I believe that Romania has benefited and continue to benefits enormously from the flat rate.

Our common effort goes to voters who have concerns. We have an obligation to show those who voted USL in 2012 that their vote was not in vain. We must show them that in Romania there can be a balanced formula that leaves no speculation on the excesses of power.

I think this formula PSD-Liberal Reformist Party is the guarantee of political balance, of the political stability
