The President of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) Horia-Roman Patapievici, announced his resignation Thursday resignation, together with the two vice-presidents, Tania Radu and Mircea Mihăieş, arguing he made this decision after the change of purpose of the institution he had managed and its political subordination to the Senate.

"The purpose of this conference is to present our reasons for a resignation as a sign of protest", said Patapievici, quoted by Agerpres agency.

Patapievici has recently said that "this change in the RCI status means to turn it into some kind of national propaganda agency".

CCR admitted Tuesday as constitutional the Government Emergency Ordinance that shifts the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) from the Presidential Administration's area of influence  to that of the Senate.

The Romanian Cultural Institute was moved by Emergency Ordinance under the authority of the Senate.

Prime Ponta Government justified its decision to pass the Romanian Cultural Institute under the President under the authority of Parliament in that institution was "too politicized" and showed that ICR will report to the Senate.
