The women's gymnastics team of Romania made up of Catalina Ponor, Sandra Izbasa, Larisa Iordache, Diana Bulimar and Diana Chelaru won the bronze medals at the Olympic Games in London with a total score of 176.414 score in the team final.

Larisa Iordache and Sandra Izbasa are already in the final of individual all-around event, Sandra Izbasa in the finals at vault and floor events, Catalina Ponor at balance beam and floor and Diana Bulimar in the balance beam final.

The women's gymnastics team of Romania are to miss an Olympic podium since 1976. They won the bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, the Romanian gymnasts won the bronze medals after the gold won in 2000 and 2004.

Romania won its fourth medal at this edition of the Olympic Games 2012 after the gold won by Alin Moldoveanu (air rifle 10 m) and silver won by Alina Dumitru (judo, 48 kg) and Corina Caprioru (judo, 57 kg).
