"The Constitutional Court, deliberating on a majority of votes has established that the procedure for suspending Mr. Traian Basescu as President of Romania has been observed. It also attests to the existence of circumstances that justify the pro tempore office of Romania's Presidency. It also finds that according to Article 98 (1) of the Constitution, the pro tempore office of Romania's Presidency will be held by Senate Chairman Mr. George-Crin-Laurentiu Antonescu," the court reports in a press release issued after the sitting, Agerpres notes.
The court's ruling is final and generally binding. It will be notified to Parliament and the Government.
